Do you need a new boiler?

Not always. A repair is often the better option. It may be time to replace your boiler if:

• It breaks down often, or repair costs keep adding up
• Parts for your model are no longer available
• It’s an older, non-condensing boiler with high running costs
• Your home’s hot water needs have changed, such as an extra bathroom

Choosing the right type of boiler

• Combi boiler: heats water instantly from the mains, with no hot water tank. Often a good fit for homes with one bathroom.
• System boiler: works with a hot water cylinder, so several taps or showers can run at once. Suits homes with more than one bathroom.
• Regular (heat-only) boiler: works with a hot water cylinder and cold water tanks in the loft. Common in older homes and systems.

The right choice depends on your home, how much hot water you use and your existing system. We’ll explain the options and recommend what makes sense for you, without jargon.

What’s involved

1. A look at your home and current system, so the recommendation is based on facts rather than guesswork.
2. A clear quote for the work, so you know what’s included.
3. Removing the old boiler and fitting the new one, with neat pipework.
4. Cleaning the heating system and adding inhibitor to protect the new boiler.
5. Controls that meet current Building Regulations, such as a timer and room thermostat.
6. Commissioning and safety checks, with the commissioning checklist completed.
7. Registration. New gas boiler installations are notified to Building Control through the Gas Safe Register, and you’ll receive a Building Regulations Compliance Certificate.
8. Handover. We show you how to use your new boiler and controls.
